It is true that gum is indigestible, meaning that the body can not break it down. However, gum goes in one end and out the other just like anything else that we eat, maybe just a little bit more unscathed. As a side note, chewing gum is actually a natural habit that dates back to prehistoric times when peeps used to chew crazy things like tree resin, bark, and gooey berries. So as much as it sucks getting it stuck to the bottom of your shoe or in your hair, gum isn't all bad. Permalink
